The Rocket Yoga Classes - Vinyasa (moving with the breath)
Tuesdays and Thursdays - 7:00 am to 8:15 am Come to one or all!
Any level of current student may attend if you wish to up-level your current yoga practice and fitness level. The experience required is that you have attended some of our beginner's classes and you are confident that you have accomplished an ability to know when you are in safe alignment in the postures and you know to stop when you either hurt or have a difficult time breathing. More advanced students typically will take a few breaths if this occurs, rest a bit, then continue.
What is the Rocket Yoga System??
"The Rocket" was named by one of the band members of the Grateful Dead because: It gets you there faster! The Rocket yoga system was created by Larry Schultz from the ashtanga yoga primary and intermediate series routines. The "Rocket Lab" has this to say about the Rocket yoga system:
"Rocket is based on a fast tempo so that it works your cardio system and gives you a sense of stamina and endurance. There is non- stop movement from beginning to end, 60-90 minutes of movement sequenced with breathing. (each pose is held approx. 4 breaths).
Rocket works on the joints of the body: ankles, knees and hips and then goes on to work the back and shoulders as well as the core abs. A lot of the poses are about learning to lift the body off the ground, over time gaining strength to lift up and resist gravity that pulls us down.
In Rocket, we dissolve the hierarchy of yoga poses and bring the fun of advanced poses to beginners. So, Rocket is appropriate for all levels that want to practice in a modern way.
As adults we don't always get the opportunity to play and have fun with our bodies, Rocket reminds us what it feels like to be children again, we can lose balance and fall, then just get back up again."
