Daily Yoga Classes - for Beginners to Advanced Relax, Breathe & Smile
1. What should I bring?
Yourself, dressed comfortably, a yoga mat if you own one, we have mats available for
purchase or one you can borrow if you need to.
2. I'm too inflexible - what class should I go to?
Try any beginner's class, our Monday & Thursday morning classes are especially for the inflexible. (Monday 10 am , Thursday at 9:30 am, Tuesday & Thursday 5:30 pm)
3. I have an old injury, will I be able to do yoga?
Yes! Please let the yoga teacher know your limitations and we will be happy to show you modifications so you can safely participate in the class.
4. I haven't done much yoga, can I try the Rocket?
The answer is "depends" on several factors, are you currently quite active? Are you able to follow directions - like you would in an aerobics class? Can you leave your ego at the door? If you answer yes to these questions, come & try it! Let us know you are new to yoga if you are.... (Don't start with Rocket on Monday evenings though! )
5. Do you have "hot yoga"? or do you heat up the room?
We do not offer hot yoga at this time. There are at least two local studios who offer that. We teach classes that help you create your own internal heat. The ideal temperature for practicing yoga is 74°F, our class temperature is usually between 72°-- 75°
6. What is the cost of classes?
Click here for pricing. We accept cash, checks, credit cards (not American Express).
7. Are your teachers certified & what does that mean?
Our yoga teachers have had a minimum of 200 hrs. training and are registered yoga teachers with the Yoga Alliance . We are also a Registered Yoga School, and offer Yoga Teacher trainings. Not all teachers are trained alike, anyone can teach yoga after a one weekend course (usually fitness yoga). Please be cautious - these teachers do not know how to help protect you from injury in class - yoga is safe when you are doing it properly, but some poses can hurt you! Also, ALWAYS tell your teacher if you have any back issues or limitations, we want you to feel better not worse!
Do you have a question that should be on here? Please email Karen & ask! Thank you for your input!
Our Classes:
In Beginner Classes: We provide instruction on how to do the asana - yoga - poses correctly. You will learn the proper alignment for your unique body. You will learn how the poses strengthen and benefit your body.
In Hatha Yoga Classes (beginner, Levels 1 and 2) You will learn more about how to breathe properly in the yoga asanas (poses), you will gradually hold the poses longer, learn more benefits of each pose, and get to know the subtleties of your yoga practice...going deeper mentally and physically.
Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Rocket classes: Each yoga teacher has their own unique teaching style, in these types of yoga classes, you will learn how to move through the poses with the foundation of your attention on your breath, developing greater body awareness, strength, detoxifying your body, gaining in flexibility and endurance. These practices give one a sense of youth, lightness and well-being at any age.
