Yoga Teacher Training Schedule

Weekend dates 2010-2011 Session:   July 23-25, Aug 27-29, Sep 24-26, Oct 22-24, Nov 19-21, Dec 17-19, Jan 28-30, Feb 25-27, Mar 11-13. 

 Included: 2 weekly yoga classes + observation hours; also included but not required: unlimited yoga classes

Tuition: $2,850

Weekend Schedule - There will be varying starting and ending times on each weekend.  A more accurate schedule will be posted prior to your weekend

Friday 's generally: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  - Depending on the classes we are covering.  There will be Qigong on some Fridays in evening that will run later.  There may be a special event and we will finish earlier.  Generally though: 4-7 pm you should plan on being at Yoga Teacher training on the Fridays listed above.

Saturday's: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Sunday's:  9 am to 4 pm

Yoga Teacher Training – 9 month Program – 200 hr. RYT

9 weekends and 1 or 2 classrooms per week (60 or 75 min. yoga class – Beginner, Level 1 & Level 2)

200 Class hours includes:  9 weekend classrooms, asana classes at studio, observation of classes; home practice; unsupervised practice teaching, homework/study/reading.   

You must track your hours of asana classes, home practice, unsupervised teaching and homework/study/reading. 

 

This is a summary.  Some topics may take place in different order subject to guest instructor’s schedules on the weekends (specifically chanting & Kundalini).  Weekend schedule provides a balance of classroom learning and yoga practice.  There will be a lunch break, bring lunch or there's an abundance of excellent local quick & slow food restaurants - you will have the weekend's schedule emailed to you the week before the weekend courses so you can plan accordingly; we strive to accommodate the needs of the yoga teacher training group.

July  23-24-25  

Section 1    Orientation: 8-Limb Path of Yoga; Schedule, monthly assignments, daily practice

                   Introduction to breathing, meditation; 1st Yama; Words to Know; History of Yoga; Types of Yoga;

                   Yoga Lifestyle & Ethics (introduction);  Beginners; Level 1 standing poses

 

August 27-28-29 

Section 2     2nd Yama;  Level 1 Standing poses and Seated poses/forward folding ;  Yoga Sutras: Words to know, History of Yoga;  

                    Beginners – Review;  Alignment, Safety, Injury prevention;  Breathing Workshop; Home Practice workshop

 

September  24-25-26 

Section 3     3rd Yama (Yoga philosophy); Level 1-2 Poses:  Standing, Seated, Back bending, Twists.  Anatomy of Yoga;

                    Meditation, the Seven Moving Principles; Being a Yoga Teacher

 

October 22-23-24    

Section 4     4th Yama.  Anatomy, Alignment & Flexibility; Teaching– language & sequencing; Teachers: Yoga Philosophy/Your Style;

                   Anatomy of Yoga; Yoga Philosophy: Food; Karma Yoga; Meditation & Asana

 

November 19-20-21  

Section 5     5th Yama;  Teaching – Planning, sequencing  a class or workshop; More Anatomy: Movement Introduction to Adjusting; Practice Teaching;

                    Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle; Intro to Energy Anatomy; Pranayama Intro.

 

December 17-18-19

Section 6     1st Niyama.  Teaching Special Classes: Prenatal, , Postnatal, Kids, Teens, Seniors,  Partner Yoga, Restorative;

                    Create a Beginner Workshop.  Practice Teaching; Energy Anatomy: Chakras & Nadis; Kundalini

 

January 28-29-30

Section 7      2nd Niyama.  Specialty Workshops:  Yoga for Women; Hip Openers; Shoulders, Strength;   Yoga Sutras #1; 

                     Mudras & Bandhas; Practice Teaching;  Ayurveda & Therapeutic Yoga; Chanting

 

February 25-26-27

Section 8     3rd Niyama; Ethics of Yoga; Business of Yoga; Meditation; Yoga Sutras #2; Practice Teaching workshop or class with feedback;

                     Exploring your style;  Yogis in history.

 

March 11-12-13

Section 9      The Whole Picture:   Niyama (4th & 5th) Review all poses, pose names; anatomy; Philosophy/History; Words to Know; Pranayama;

                     Meditation; Practice teaching/test; Written Test; Restorative Yoga.

 

TBA – Completion – Gathering together to complete & hand in any work needed to complete, Certificates awarded & celebrated.
