Join us next winter! at Samasati near Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica for a week-long yoga retreat. December 13-20th 2013. You will fly in on December 12 and fly home December 21st, so will also need to have a hotel for the 12 & 21st. The cost is $1,450 per person for a double bungalow, $1676 per person if you don't have a roommate, and triple occupancy is $1,335 per person. You must provide your own roommates if you want the double or triple.
Other costs: airfare, two nights hotel stay in San Jose, your food traveling to Samasati and returning. Included: van transport to Samasati (arranged by us). 7 nights at Samasati with meals & 7 yoga classes.
If you want to go on this trip, we need your reservation deposit of $1,000 by September 1. No exceptions. We have had to cancel trips because of procrastination, just to have several inquiries only one month prior! If you can reserve sooner, do so, the retreat center could get booked before September 1. We will not accept any reservations after September 1st. You know you want to go, so just do it! We need to send deposits in advance, make reservations months out and the airline flights are usually the most economical if you make your reservation 1 to 3 months prior to flying. You will also need a passport.
Karen Kinnard has been taking groups to Samasati for 7 years . The yoga retreat is a great, relaxing yoga vacation. Whether your goal is fitness, immersion into yoga & meditation, or simply relaxing, this is it. Nothing is more nurturing than this rainforest environment where you are taken care of by a caring staff. Samasati's chefs prepare fresh food for your meals, the bungalows are cleaned daily. All you need do is choose what you want to do with your days. Yoga classes are offered every morning and evening. Mornings are for meditation, waking up with invigorating yoga practices and evenings for relaxation, rejuvenation and fun. (see our slide show ....scroll down)
Included in your trip: 7 nights lodging, meals at Samasati, transport to and from the retreat center (from/to San Jose) and 5 yoga classes. Samasati provides a free daily shuttle into Puerto Viejo where you can shop, walk, go out on tours or sit on the beach (snorkeling, surfing, swimming, walking).
Yoga schedule: Morning asana class everyday except Wednesday (Sunday through Saturday mornings). There will be a restorative class scheduled in the early evening (before dinner) our first night. The style of teaching is a mixed hatha/vinyasa. Karen is an experienced teacher who teaches Hatha, Ashtanga and trains yoga teachers. This is a retreat for practicing an authentic practice for you, so the yoga will be tailored to the needs of participants. There will also be dedicated meditation time before the asana practices.
Daily Schedule Generally: 7 am Meditation/Yoga: 8:30 am Breakfast; after breakfast through 4 pm free time to explore neighboring villages, national parks, beaches, or stay at Samasati, rest, hike. . . many tour options also; when we meet for the evening asana class, it will be just before dinner (schedule will be posted in December).
Samasati provides 3 meals a day when we are staying there. You are on your own for your food before we arrive and after we leave.
Airport: It is best to fly in to San Jose, Costa Rica and then meet at Orquideas Inn as a group. We can then all ride to Samasati in the same van.
Pricing:
Bungalow
Check out the photo slide-show below.. . .
Other costs: taxi from airport and to airport, airport fee to leave the country ($35); your passport (required); their may be luggage fees; hotel after you land and before you leave again. I recommend staying at Orquideas Inn the night before we depart, then stay their again before you leave for the airport. This is a beautiful Inn and has the famed Marilyn Monroe bar where we eat & look out on the swimming pool. They serve fabulous food for breakfast (included) also. The cost to stay there is about $95/night single, and double is the same - you can split the cost. If you give yourself an extra day before flying out, they also book some really awesome tours for you. I have stayed here a couple of times and I trust them - you just need to be clear about your communication in Costa Rica - if you have any suspicions when speaking with someone booking a tour or a ride, you simply dismiss them until you speak with someone you trust. Most Costa Ricans speak English fluently, and Spanish is their first language.
